Mary Broughton holds both a bachelor and masters degree in percussion performance. At present, Mary resides in Sydney where she is undertaking a PhD specializing in marimba and the role of performer as communicator between composer and audience at MARCS, University of Western Sydney. Currently, she is holds the positions of Acting Principal Timpanist with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and Principal Timpanist with the newly established Wollongong Symphony Orchestra. Mary's chamber and solo career has seen her perform all over Australia, including performances in the Brisbane Festival, the Rhythms of Life Festival, Perth, the Canberra International Chamber Music and internationally in the United Kingdom, USA and Singapore. |

The Bang. series is designed to sequentially introduce developmental reading, technical concepts and expressive direction. In volume 2, basic band instruments are used in combination with extended playing techniques (playing on rims and stand) and body percussion. Rolls for the snare drum are explored with imitation and independent rhythmic motives being developed. |
