All 2 mallet playing. Rhythmically complex piece. Lots of syncopated patterns. Some exposed places in all parts. Written as four parts which are sometimes split into two separate notes. Looks like fun. High level of technique involved. The music has been more studied, performed, and recorded than any other guitar compositions of the 20th century. The reason lies more in the fact that Villa-Lobos was an extremely able guitarist as well as being Brazil`s most distinguished and respected composer. In 1920, as an established composer, he initiated the well-known series of 17 choros for combinations of instruments, it is interesting that the first is for guitar solo (Choro No. 1)
