This text aims to give insight into today`s funk and fusion music; with relevant exercises, transcriptions of rhythms by well-known drummers (e.g. Steve Gadd, James Mason, and others), and ten well written solos. Its approach is essentially a beat book with some preliminary exercises. The beats that are transcribed are the early examples of fusion and linear drumming and should be studied. I would use this book as a supplemental text and definitely as a reference book for historical funk grooves. I recommend this book.
