These volumes are certainly excellent material for preparing the student for orchestral timpani playing. They contain tuning, rhythmic, and dampening challenges. Due to the fact that they are published in Europe, the price is a deterent for using these books. Kal Cherry and Paul Yanich use these books. They are good studies and etudes. Use for jury or undergraduate and graduate auditions. A good collection of very musical studies, relevant to the solo and orchestral repertoire, and many are preceded by prepatory exercises.
