Gene Fambrough is Assistant Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Percussion at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He directs the Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, Drumline, Electro-Acoustic ensemble and assists with the UAB Band program. He holds degrees from the University of Georgia (Music Education), East Carolina University (Performance), and the University of Alabama (DMA, Performance).

Prior to his appointment at UAB, he spent three years at Oak Grove High School in Bessemer, Alabama. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, Music Educators National Conference, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Pi Kappa Lambda.  He is sponsored by Pearl/Adams Instruments, Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets, Evans drumheads, and Black Swamp Percussion.
