Performance notes include symbols used for five degrees of resonance and timbre from extreme fullness to extreme secco. Symbols apply to timpani, could be hard to work out. Dialogue between timpani and keyboard. Keyboard players use fingers whenever possible. Both voices work out and develop rhythmic motives as in "Double Music," by John Cage. College level.
