The piece has two large sections, the first of which is in 6/8, and the second in 2/4. The rhythms are Haitian-based with mostly eighths and sixteenths and some 5:2. No unison lines are present. The tempo is quarter or dotted quarter =120 with a dynamic range of mf to ff mainly. There are lots of mallet symbols and performance notes. Rouse gives explicit symbolism related to the music and the instruments. It is not as difficult as Rouse`s Ku-Ka-ilamoku. This is a medium difficult college level piece that is playable be a fairly advanced high school ensemble.
