Set up with players 5, 6, 7, and 8 behind audience and the rest on stage. Uses lots of repetitive figures. Texture is thick at times because it uses 8ths, 16ths, 8th, quarter, and half note triplets, lots of use of ad liv improvisation. This piece is played in a round, very large stage set-up. 1st movement is straight ahead drum piece with some mallet playing, 2nd is free and spatial, 3rd is fugal with some improvisation.
