dedication: to Martha Herby; premiere: 4 March 1974, Fredonia, New York, Martha Herby(flute), composer(vibraphone). Chamber duet that can test both players ability to read in five flats. Range is acceptable for most flute players. Much four mallet work for the vibist, written on the grand staff. Dampenng and pedaling is not marked, so much attention must be given by the vibist to keep the lines clear and defined. There are many opportunities for mallet dampening. It is a good peice for advanced high school or early college. There are view ensemble problems. The peice is easy to listen to. Beautiful melodies throughout.
