This is a very difficult work for trumpet and vibraphone. There are practically equal roles between the two instruments. The leters in the title are the initials of the trumpet player for which it was written, Eric Aubier. "These two letters also represent the two notes on which the piece is based in line with an ancient tradition," writes the composer. "Adorned with the occasional sharp and flat, these two notes are repeated to produce a motif which recurs throughout the piece in different guises."
