This piece is based on a tone row. Various movements have a variety of textures and moods. The piece begins quietly and gradually builds to an exciting climax in the fial section. Some sections switch between treble and bass cleff quikly in the same stave. There are many beautiful, lyrical moments throughout the piece, and other sections much less tonal. There are some multi-metered sections. The manuscript is good but the print is fairly small. Much interplay between the flute and percussion lines.
