Programme Notes / Performance Details :The piece "Flying Kangaroo" was composed in 2009 for the german music competition "Jugend musiziert" and should advance the young percussionist to play the multiple percussion. The instruments are easy to manage (Timbales sub. Bongos, Mounted Cowbell, Foot-Cowbell, Hi-Hat and Bass-Drum)and can be built up like a Drum-Set.
Play-technical challenges limit themselves merely to the independence of the hands and feet and the quick changes between the pedal of the Hi-hat and the Foot-Cowbell. The Percussionist definitely should have experiences in the Drum-Set.
Flying Kangaroo is suited very well for the introduction to the Latin-Style. Beside the use of all more commonly binary rhythms small effects are included like the play of the Mounted-Cowbell open and closed or Timbales on the drumhead and on the rim.
A piece to have fun!!!!
