Programme Notes / Performance Details :

This piece can be performed by 3 conga players (quinto, conga, and tumba), or as a double trio with the addition of 3 trumpet players. This piece is in a Steve Reich minimalist style and has sections for stick and hand and hands only for the conga parts. Rhythmic phrases in 6 and 8 beats with tricky trumpet rhythmic counter-melodies. The drum parts interlock to form a catchy melody. Fascinating piece! A recording of this piece is featured on N. Scott Robinson`s 2nd CD Things That Happen Fast. Score, 6 parts & CD. Duration: 7-8 minutes Level: Intermediate-Advanced.
