Programme Notes / Performance Details :Ensemble piece for frame drums (14" or 15" Egyptian tars & 18", 20" or 22" lap style Bodhrans) and solkattu (South Indian rhythmic chanting). This piece was commissioned by B. Michael Williams for the Winthrop University Percussion Ensemble and premeired in April 2009. Challenging patterns of 5 within a larger structure of 5 beats and Carnatic reduction phrases are a feature in this piece as well as contrapuntal frame drumming in 5 beats. Score & 2 parts. Commissioned by B. Michael Williams. World premeire by Winthrop University Percussion Ensemble.
