Composer / Arranger Details: Travis Salim (b. 1992) is a young composer, originally from Bergenfield, NJ. He got started in percussion in middle school, and composition in high school. He played with as many ensembles in high school, most of which he wrote or arranged the music for. He has written many large ensemble pieces, like marching band and concert band, and he also writes for chamber ensembles. Mostly those ensembles are percussion, but he has written for woodwind ensemble and various solos and duets. He is currently a music education major at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, and studies composition with composer John Link.

Journey of Light was written for and premiered by the Morris Hills High School Percussion Ensemble of Rockaway, NJ. The premiere was May 20th, 2010. The players in the ensemble (myself included) chose what they wanted to play, and I wrote the piece with its instrumentation based off of that.
