Programme Notes / Performance Details :Elemental Dances is a work for timpanist in front of a percussion trio. The piece requires five drums, and is written in three movements: Fire Dance, an upbeat drum based movement with some improvisation in the solo part; Rain Dance, a slower and more moderate movement based on the ideas and emotions behind a rain storm; and Storm Dance; a very aggressive movement developing the rain storm into an energetic thunderstorm.
