Medium difficult solo -- four mallets. Fredrickson is on the composition faculty at the University of Illinois. Movement I is a lourd melodic prelude with rolls running into gestural flurries. Movement II is a dast one requiring hand to hand independence. Movement III is a chorale requiring alternate stickings for awkward chords. Movement IV is fast and linear -- a lot of sextuplet 4-3-2-1-2-3-4 patterns moving through the progression. Good variety. Very complete work. Undergraduate/graduate recital.
